Cases and exposures

The COVID-19 Response Team (CRT) is  alerted of possible cases and exposures in the FIU community through the P3 app. Our contact tracers will communicate directly with the persons affected, including close contacts of any positive cases.

Our team works to identify cases and close contacts. If you have tested positive or have been in close contact with someone who may have, report it in the P3 app. We will call you by phone to provide instructions for what to do next.

When appropriate, the team may also communicate with HR (for employee cases) or Student Affairs (for student cases).

Follow-up channels

After being contacted by the COVID-19 Response Team, symptomatic individuals, cases and close contacts must stay in touch through these follow-up channels.

Students must use Kaizala for follow-up communications and document sharing. Follow these instructions:

  1. Download Microsoft Kaizala from the app store on your phone (free download)
  2. Click on the profile icon in the bottom left of the home screen
  3. Click on the ‘linked accounts’ tab
  4. It will ask if you want to link an Office 365 account, use your student FIU email credentials to do so

You must download the app version on your phone before using the web interface, but the web version is easier for document sharing. Go to the Kaizala Webapp.

Confidentiality

Cases are confidential and must be reported by the individual themselves. You may NOT report a case on behalf of another person. Though close contacts will be notified, the name and status of a case patient will NOT be given out. We will advise case patients and close contacts to alert their professor or supervisor if isolation/quarantine is necessary.
